Gadget of the Day: A thumb-drive-sized mini PC

PCs are getting smaller and smaller by the day. Many companies are now into the mini PC game including ZOTAC, Gigabyte, ECS, and so on. This one however takes the cake, because of its size.

At first glance, you might mistake it for a thumb-drive, which it is not. This one is a full-blown x86 PC. The device is manufactured by the China-based Shenzen Apec Electronics, and is currently available for purchase on AliExpress for around $131 including shipping to the UAE, which translates to around AED 485.

The device runs on a quad-core Bay Trail processor (a 32-bit Z3735F), comes with 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It also supports 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The device also comes with a miro SD expansion slot. What’s not included though is the OS – however, you’re free to load Windows, Linux, Android, or any other Atom-friendly OS you want onto it.
