Review: Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro

Adding up to the sleek design elements, Lenovo has upped things few notch higher with its latest Yoga Tablet 2 Pro. The tablet from Lenovo is equipped with a 13-inch super-sized screen with quad HD display and a built-in projector which make Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, by far the best tablet from Lenovo.

The nuances of the designs like the cylindrical bottom have been kept intact; however, there are many welcome changes as well. With the Lenovo’s Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, any surface can be a screen with exceptional projection capabilities.

The basic design of Yoga tablets has been kept intact in the latest model too. The cylindrical edge which is the signature design element of Yoga tablets is still very much there. It also has a kickstand to enable it to stand.

There is a combination of aluminum and plastics which render a robust as well as an elegant feel to the tablet. The new addition to this latest Lenovo Yoga Tablet Pro 2.0 is the Pico projector at the end of the cylindrical base and JBL speakers with subwoofers.

The size of the screen is 13.3 inches, which is certainly super-sized. Higher resolution at 2560×1440 pixels of the IPS LCD screen does a perfect job in rendering great pictures with optimum sharpness. The colors may not be vivid but are quite natural and true.

The tablet is powered by the Android OS version 4.4 KitKat and also packs a quad-core 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z3745 processor with 2GB RAM which is pretty decent, but certainly cannot match the performance and quality of names like Qualcomm, Nividia and Snapdragon. The consequence is the dip in performance when the tablet is subjected to graphic intensive tasks.

Games like Asphalt 8 and others were experiencing lag in the frame rates, which can be a big turn off. However, for other tasks like movies, video streaming the tablet worked very smoothly. The connectivity features provided in the tablet are dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. An 8 MP rear camera and a 1.6 MP front camera have been provided in the tablet for video calling.

The performance of the camera was found to be good in different light conditions. On the memory front, the tablet packs a punch with 32GB of internal storage, 25GB of which is available to users. It can be extended to 64 GB through a memory card.

If viewing videos and movies is the primary motive and you require a device which looks exquisite, Lenovo Yoga Tablet Pro 2 is a good buy. However, if you have plans to play graphic intensive games, you could be disappointed.
