Review: One Plus 3

EditorsChoiceOnePlus is a brand that has truly revolutionized the smartphone market. Ever since the launch of the OnePlus One, the brand has pushed boundaries and defied existing conventions. The OnePlus marks the continuation of the tradition. Once again, it is a true flagship killer.

The first One plus phone featured a full plastic body whereas the second one boasted curved metal edges and a plastic back. The OnePlus 3 is a complete improvement over the previous models. Just like every other flagship device today, the OnePlus 3 features a metal and glass design.

The 5.5-inch screen is manageable despite being big. The aluminum frame is 7.43mm thick. The OnePlus does bear some resemblance to its predecessors. However, it is its own beast. The new design features a traditional approach, but the new details easily separate the latest flagship killer from its predecessors.

Also, the look of the phone can further be customized using some pretty thin back cases. The fingerprint sensor is superfast. Even with a turned off screen, it works. Actually, it works extremely well! The OnePlus 3 features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display.

The OnePlus 3 packs a quite decent screen that is even comparable to the Samsung S7’s supreme display. The OnePlus 3 calls its display an Optic AMOLED screen. Basically, it is a modified version of the standard AMOLED display used in Samsung’s S7.

The OnePlus 3 runs a customized version of Android 6.0.1. The Oxygen OS contains a convenient and beautiful user interface. As the earlier models, the latest Oxygen OS does provide a lot of tweaking options and customization capabilities. One of the custom features is the ‘shelf’.

It is basically a second home screen that displays recently opened apps and a miniature memo pad. The hardware featured in the OnePlus 3 is its most impressive aspect. A Snapdragon 820 SoC, 6GB of RAM and an Adreno 530 GPU make a really strong hardware configuration.

Also, the OnePlus 3 is available in only one internal storage variant and that is the 65GB one. Connectivity is not an issue with this flagship killer. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, USB 2.0 connector that features the capability to act as a C-type reverse connector as well.

There is no lack of sensors in the OnePlus 3. It features an accelerometer, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Barometer, Compass and also a super quick fingerprint sensor. The battery is a 3000mAh one. With average usage, the phone last longer than a full day. This hardware configuration is available in phones that cost twice as much as the OnePlus 3.

Needless to say, this device is blazingly fast. At this budget or probably any budget, the OnePlus 3 is the fastest phone you can buy. The rear of the OnePlus 3 houses a Sony IMX298 sensor. The rear shooter is 16 megapixels and has an aperture of f/2.0. This camera can click highly detailed and vibrant images. Also, 2160p video recording is possible at 30 frames per second.

HD recording runs at a stellar frame rate of 120 frames per second. The secondary camera is an 8 megapixel shooter that has an aperture of 1/3.2. Video recording is possible at 1080p with the front shooter. The Camera app also offers some customization, but is not over complicated.

Well, it has one of the best hardware configuration in the market, an amazing UI and also an impressive camera. The OnePlus 3 is offered at a price that is almost too good to be true! Don’t think, just buy it!
