Review: Hisense Elegance E76

The mid-range smartphones market is getting interesting, with more and more brands focusing on offering boatload of features at affordable prices. Hisense is one such brand, which has launched the new Elegance E76 smartphone on the market targeted at the mid-range market.

I’ve just spent two weeks test-driving this device and I am glad to report that I have been more than satisfied with the experience. Coming in at a price tag of AED 1110, the Elegance offers more in terms of build quality, UI and feature set.

Hisense back

The Hisense Elegance comes packed in a beautiful metal body that is elegantly designed and built. The overall design is reminiscent of Huawei smartphones, but nevertheless the company differentiates the overall experience through packing in an good UI.

On the front, the phone features a 5.5-inch full HD display. On the top you will find a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Just below the display, you will find the Home, Back and Options buttons. On the left edge is the SIM tray, while the right edge includes the power button and the volume rockers.

Hisense cam

On the top edge you will find a 3.55mm audio jack and at the bottom you will find a microUSB port for syncing data and charging. Flip the phone around and you will find a 13-megapixel camera along with the LED flash modules.

The camera app offers a wide range of shooting modes, including a 0.1 millisecond shutter speed, catering or light trail and water effects. You also get various modes such as beauty, night, professional and HDR.

Hisense port

The phone itself is 4G enabled. At the back of the phone you will also find a fingerprint scanner, which allows you to setup up to five different fingers for various functions. There is also a handy feature for the data conscious among us, with a data saving mode to use when needed.

This feature allows you to save up to 50 percent more data while streaming content, without compromising the quality of the video. The phone comes with a dual nano SIM slot and space for microSD expandable storage.

Under the hood, the phone runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor that clocks at a respectable 1.4 GHz. Added to this is a healthy 3GB of RAM, with 32GB of onboard storage. The phone also has a relatively sizeable 3000 mAh battery that will yield a full day, with a stamina mode thrown in for good measure.

The Hisense Elegance offers good performance for the price bracket it is available in. For AED 1110 you get a smartphone with a premium feeling unibody design, a strong camera and a few above-standard features. The Hisense Elegance is thus a great value for money device.
