Consider this Before Buying a Premium TV

When it comes to buying TVs there’s a lot of different features to consider. Traditionally, consumers focused on two key features; size, and cost. However, this is a sentiment of the past, and today consumers are demanding UHD-quality TV, as they gain a better understanding of what these features really mean and how much they matter when it comes to increasing immersion.

Despite this, it’s not always easy to know what you should be prioritizing when buying a high-quality TV, but keeping this in mind, here is a rundown of features that you should consider before purchasing your next TV.

1- Color Volume:
Color volume is a standard for evaluating a TV’s ability to produce accurate colors at all luminance levels; so the higher the color volume, the better the TV is at producing rich, and precise colors. This standard emerged as a way to evaluate a UHD of 4K TV’s ability to produce immersive viewing experiences, and how well they perform under a variety of lighting conditions. If a TV’s color volume is low, the depicted image will exceed a TV’s peak luminance, and so will appear washed out and faded, making the overall viewing experience suffer. Color volume is a feature which manufacturers are in constant competition over, and are always exploring ways to deliver peak picture quality.

2- HDR:
HDR adds much more color, brightness, and contrast to images displayed on HD or UHD TVs. HDR was developed to provide whiter whites, blacker black, and colors which are more true-to-life, and the results are lifelike visuals that portray images accurately, as the producer intended. Where the old technology of SDR might lose details in the shadows or glare, HDR produces sharper contrast through different conditions. However, Samsung’s QLED TVs support HDR10+, which adds a more dynamic range of light and dark ratio to images, delivering even greater contrast, more vibrant colors, and allows images to be enhanced on a scene-by-scene basis.

3- Refresh Rate:
A TV’s refresh rate affects the smoothness of the picture, as it is the number of times that an on-screen image is refreshed per second. TVs with a higher refresh rate will, generally, provide a more seamless show, with minimal motion blur, and will create a more immersive experience. This will be particularly important to you if you watch a lot of fast-paced action films, and a high refresh rate will take your experience to the next level.

4- HDMI and Connections:
HDMI is an industry standard which transmits visual and audio data between devices, and so higher-quality HDMI cables will support higher transfer speeds. Therefore there will be more bandwidth to enjoy 4K UHD, and HDR content, and so, how a TV handles its HMDI, amongst other connections, can greatly influence its setup, and the ease of which the device integrates into a living space.

5- Smart TV:
Smart TVs are in high demand due to their capability of connecting to the internet to allow users to stream video content, browse the web, and run a variety of apps. It is now the norm to stream over-the-top (OTT) services, as more people are enjoying a dynamic, and broad, range of entertainment due to the convenience of apps. Samsung’s QLED TVs have a range of smart apps, services and features which make it easy to enjoy high-quality UHD and HDR content. These features also include the TV PLUS app, which organizers your on-demand content, and mirrors the channel menus of traditional TV providers. This is all managed through the One Remote, which connects other devices via a single, intuitive control.

So, if you’re looking for a new premium TV, make sure you look for these important features. Determining which features are most important to you will help you make an informed decision as to what TV is best for you, and your living environment.

Have your say!
