Lenovo launched its new Moto G5 recently in Dubai at a price of AED 699. The smartphone comes in a single variant – it offers 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space, which is further expandable to up to 128GB using a micro SD slot.

The new Moto G5 comes with a fingerprint scanner on the front, just below the 5-inch Full HD display, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The phone is made up of a mix of metal and plastic and at a price tag of AED 699, Lenovo has aimed the phone at the the mid-range segment.

The Moto G5 also features Google Assistant out of the box and comes with a water-repellent nano-coating. The Moto G5 also accompanies a list of Motorola-exclusive features such as Moto Display, Actions, twist gesture, and a One Button Nav mode that lets users navigate the interface with swipes on the fingerprint scanner.

Moto 3Surprisingly, the Moto G5 features a removable battery, which is hard to come by in phone today. The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) Moto G5 runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. Under the hood, the Moto G5 is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor.

In terms of camera, the Moto G5 features a 13-megapixel sensor with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front camera with a wide-angle lens and an f/2.2 aperture. The Moto G5 was able to shoot some really good images and videos under good lighting conditions. Even indoors and under low light conditions, the Moto G5 did come up with good quality footage.

Moto 2Connectivity options on the Moto G5 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.2, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. The Moto G5’s battery capacity is 2800mAh. The removable battery supports fast charging – the smartphone comes bundled with a 10W rapid charger.

Moto 1To gauge the performance, we ran the AnTuTu benchmark on the Moto G5. We were able to clock mid-range performance ratings from the smartphone. The Moto G5 has good performance and was able to handle most tasks we threw at it with aplomb. The Moto G5 can easily make for a primary dual-SIM smartphone, if you are on a budget. The Moto G5 thus comes across as highly recommended.
